Tyler Green

Tyler Green is the producer and host of The Modern Art Notes Podcast, which has aired over 770 weekly episodes since 2011. Guests on the program have included artists Robert Adams, Julie Mehretu, Robert Irwin, Dyani White Hawk, and Kerry James Marshall, and art historians Yve-Alain Bois, Nicole Fleetwood, Mary Beard, and David Bindman. Green’s third book, Claiming Yosemite: The Civil War, the California Genocide, and the Invention of National Parks, will be published by Stanford University Press’ Redwood trade imprint in April. Green’s previous books include Carleton Watkins: Making the West American (University of California, 2018), which won the 2019 California Book Awards’ gold medal for publishing, and Emerson’s ‘Nature’ and the Artists: Idea as Landscape, Landscape as Idea (Prestel Publishing, 2021). Between 2001 and 2014, Green’s pioneering Modern Art Notes website featured original reporting, art criticism, and analyses of both art and nonprofit art institutions.
