J Wortham

J Wortham is a sound healer, Reiki practitioner, herbalist, and community care worker oriented toward healing justice and liberation. They are also a staff writer for The New York Times Magazine and co-host of the podcast Still Processing. They are the proud editor, along with Kimberly Drew, of the visual anthology Black Futures, a 2020 Editor's choice by The New York Times Book Review, from One World. Their writing has also appeared in Haymarket, Jupiter Magazine, and Yale University Press. Wortham has been a keynote speaker for Students of Color of Rackham Annual Social Justice Symposium and the Pennsylvania Conference for Women, among others. They are currently working on Work of Body, a book about the body and dissociation, for Penguin Press. They mostly live and work on stolen Munsee Lenape land, now known as Brooklyn, New York, and are committed to decolonization as a way of life.
