Irene Borger is a writer, teacher, and founding director of the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts. As artist-in-residence for 10 years at AIDS Project Los Angeles, where Borger created the writing program, she is the editor of the anthology From a Burning House: The AIDS Project Los Angeles Writers Workshop Collection (Gallery Books, 1996). Her interviews with risk-taking playwrights, choreographers, composers, filmmakers, and artists appear in her book The Force of Curiosity (Calarts, 1999). Her work has appeared in many publications, including The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, and The Wall Street Journal. For more than 20 years, she has led a weekly creative writing workshop in Los Angeles.
