Eva Recinos is an arts and culture journalist and creative nonfiction writer based in Los Angeles. Her reviews, features, and profiles have been published in the Los Angeles Times, KCET, The Guardian, Hyperallergic, Aperture, Poets & Writers, and more. Her essay collection, Underneath the Palm Trees, is forthcoming in 2027 from Northwestern University Press. She was a 2019 nominee for the LA Press Club Awards in the category of Arts & Entertainment Feature (online). Her creative nonfiction has appeared in Refinery29, PANK, Blood Orange Review, Air/Light, Electric Literature, and more.  She was a 2024 finalist for the Porter House Review Editor’s Prize in nonfiction, a first-place winner in the 2022 Flash 405 contest, and a finalist for the 2021 PEN America Emerging Voices Fellowship. Recinos has been a writer or artist in residence at the Mendocino Arts Center and Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, and the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop for nonfiction, all in 2024, and several others previously. She has taught writing at Whittier College, WriteGirl, and Domestika. She is less than 5 feet tall.
