America Meredith

America Meredith (Cherokee Nation) is an arts writer, visual artist, and independent curator whose community-based curatorial practice spans more than three decades. She serves as the publishing editor of First American Art Magazine. She has contributed to numerous catalogs, and her writing has appeared in Art in America, Hyperallergic, Momus, Crafts UK, Native Foodways, Native Peoples, Santa Fe New Mexican, and New Mexico Magazine. Meredith earned her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and taught Native American art history at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe Community College, and a Cherokee Humanities Course. Northeastern State University named Meredith its 2018 Sequoyah Fellow. She published Cherokee-language books for Noksi Press and serves on the advisory board of Native South journal. Based in Norman, Oklahoma, she strives to make Indigenous art history of the Americas accessible and engaging to the public.
