We have begun to organize a traveling exhibition of Leo Rabkin’s work. The artistic estate has just been accessioned and we are delighted and eager to share this work with a national audience. Below are images of more than 30 of Leo’s most vibrant paintings and sculptures. This selection represents every phase of Leo Rabkin’s career. This exhibition is meant to be an educational effort of the foundation to document the joy and emotional intensity of the artist’s work. We are looking to send it to other non-profit institutions including university museums and regional art centers across the country. Leo’s artworks are suited for a variety of spaces and layouts. They include suspended sculptures, large watercolors, constructed boxes of modest scale and intricate works on paper. We expect that our exhibition would animate and fill a small museum gallery using wall space, one or two vitrines and perhaps a corner where a work could be suspended in air.
The exhibition will be professionally crated and packed. Shipping to and from locations will be fully coordinated by the foundation. The exhibition will come with instructions, various layout suggestions, detailed descriptions of works, signage, and educational and accompanying materials. A speaker from our foundation will also be available upon request.
Institutions who receive the work will have the opportunity to choose a piece or pieces to accession as part of their permanent collections on a first come-first-served basis. The art will continue to travel with the show until it is over. Upon completion, we will ship the work back to you as a donation from our foundation. This exhibition will be available within this upcoming year for a nominal fee to cover material costs only.
